Why do many of the most highest commented and upvoted posts on Reddit revolve around/feature the word “hate”?

Hi.

Hope you’re doing well.

Whenever I browse the Reddit homepage I frequently see threads with thousands of comments and upvotes that asks something about a particular subject and features the word, “hate.”

Is this, like, a microcosm of society or something? Or a coincidence? I see much less posts with thousands of comments and upvotes with ”love” or “like” in the title.

Am I being accurate in your experience or is this a dumb take?
