At what dB threshold does your hyperacusis become uncomfortable / painful?

I find that 70db is the threshold where I experience discomfort. About 77 is enough to start causing pain.

My tolerance to sound is also better if the sound is constant. Ie the droning of a car on the highway (windows up, no music, no talking), or in a restaurant (where all voices average out, however, if the person I am with starts talking to me over the background noise of the restaurant, every rise and fall of their voice stabs me in the head). Ofc, if the background noise is 80dB+, whether constant or not, it's just too much.

I have been wearing earplugs for over 6 months now. I have not noticed any greater sensitivity to noise. So I think my thresholds are pretty stable and predictable. Hence I'm continuing to wear earplugs.
