In need of answers

I have attended Protestant churches and have identified with Protestantism for as long as l've been a Christian. However, though I can't pin it on a specific moment in time, l've been thinking more seriously about Catholicism than I ever have in my life.

There have been several instances where I've sat under pastors who have decried Catholicism as rife with heresy and false doctrine, with some even going so far as to call it a cult. But when I look at Catholics and the Catholic Church, I don't see any of that. I see rapt adoration and worship of the Lord, and hearts and minds set on fire by the Word of God. I see works of unprecedented beauty from Catholics. To this day, whenever I enter into a cathedral and look around at everything from the ceiling to the walls to the cross with Christ crucified at the far end, I think "this is the work of God."

All that to say that l've been feeling a struggle in my heart and don't know what to do. I have so many questions, the most pressing of which has to do with the interpretation of Scripture: Protestants teach against one interpretation of Scripture having precedence, but the Catholic view of tradition and the Church's interpretation of the Scriptures being superior seems like it would protect against division and false doctrine. Another is papal authority: Protestants would argue that the Scriptures say nothing about a Pope or papal authority, but there is so much tradition behind the papacy that it's difficult for me to know for sure. I apologize if l've misrepresented Catholic beliefs in any way; there's so little I understand as of right now.

What is the most powerful reason, in your view, why I should become Catholic? I am completely open to any answer posted here. I also ask for your prayers for wisdom.
