Vyvanse and cold sores
đ / So I keep researching this but can't get a straight answer: Has anyone experienced an increase in cold sores after increasing their dose of a stimulant like Vyvanse or Adderall?
đ° / Do folks know if there's a causation factor in there somewhere? I woke up yesterday with a row of 3-4 small bright red sores starting above my right top lip. Then today I see what looks like a similar batch cropping up on the left!
đ / I'm treating as I always do (very aggressively): Swab an alcohol wipe over the area, apply tea tree oil topically and let it sink in, apply mupirocin antibiotic ointment on area and increase Valtrex from 1g/x1/day to 2g/x2/day for a couple days. I'm actually on a daily prophylactic dose of Valtrex just for this issue, but sometimes it flares up too hard for the normal amount to contain. And even though mupirocin ointment is an antibiotic vs. antiviral (HSV is viral), it always helps. Google it and you'll find a study on the positive effects of mupirocin on cold sores by a doctor as baffled by its effect as others.
